The official recommendations are in my opinion not enough to have a good experience. I believe the recommendations found under their wiki are far better and more accurate. We found going above 32 GByte resulting in diminishing returns. While the editor and engine don't use 32 GByte, having the memory available > for the disk cache is a boon, especially as a programmer compiling the full engine. VS code paired with Ue4 C++ is atrocious. Unity port for M1 Chip works flawlessly with excellent visual studio for mac (even though VS for mac runs through intel). Idk when Epic would make their mind to port Ue4 to M1 Chip. Change it to VS Code (make sure you’ve got it installed on your system otherwise this option may not come up).
